Quad Rotation Stochastic

Overview

The Quad Rotation Stochastic Indicator is a powerful tool designed to identify market reversals and trend continuations by analyzing the convergence and divergence of four stochastic lines. Enhanced with a weighted average line and a gradient-filled Convergence Band, this indicator provides clear visual signals for buy/sell opportunities, making it ideal for traders of all levels on any market (stocks, forex, crypto).

Key Features

  • Four Stochastic Lines: Tracks four stochastics with different periods to highlight market momentum and reversals.
  • Convergence Band (CB): A gradient-filled area between the fastest stochastic (Stochastic 1) and the weighted average, showing alignment strength.
  • Background Alerts: Highlights overbought (red) or oversold (green) zones when user-defined stochastic lines converge and curve inward.
  • Trend Shield (ABCD Pattern): Identifies trend continuation with green (long) or red (short) triangles when Stochastic 4 stays in extreme zones.
  • Super Signal: Triggers when all four stochastics align in overbought/oversold zones and slope in the same direction, signaling strong reversals.
  • Customizable Settings: Adjust stochastic periods, weights, colors, and alert sensitivity for tailored trading.

How It Works

The indicator plots four stochastic lines (Stochastic 1–4) with increasing periods (fast to slow) to capture momentum shifts. A white line shows the weighted average of these stochastics, favoring the slower Stochastic 4 for trend context. The Convergence Band (CB), a gradient-filled area between Stochastic 1 and the average, visually indicates alignment: tighter bands signal stronger agreement, while wider bands show divergence. Key signals include:

  • Overbought/Oversold Alerts: Background turns red (above 80) or green (below 20) when a user-set number of stochastics (default: 3) are in these zones and curving inward, suggesting reversals or position closures.
  • Trend Shield (ABCD): Green (up) or red (down) triangles appear when Stochastic 4 lingers above 90 or below 10 for a set number of bars, indicating trend continuation despite minor corrections.
  • Super Signal: Rare but powerful, triggered when all four stochastics align in overbought/oversold zones and slope together, marked by red (down) or green (up) labels.

Settings

Bars Since Below 10 (Short) 7 Bars for Trend Shield ABCD (short) detection
Stochastic Weights (1–4) 0.2, 0.6, 1.4, 1.8 Weighting for average calculation
%K Length (Stochastic 1–4) 9, 14, 40, 60 Periods for each stochastic
%D Smoothing (Stochastic 1–4) 3, 3, 4, 10 Smoothing periods for each stochastic

Best Practices

  • Timeframes: Use on 1H, 4H, or daily charts for reliable signals; lower timeframes may increase false positives.
  • Reversal Signals: Look for tight Convergence Bands in overbought/oversold zones with inward-curving lines for strong buy/sell signals.
  • Trend Shield: Wait for green/red triangles to disappear (Stochastic 4 crossing 90/10) before entering against the trend, or use early reversal candles with Stochastic 1/2 curving sharply.
  • Super Signal: Treat as a high-probability reversal signal; confirm with price action or other indicators like the 9 EMA.
  • Combine Tools: Pair with support/resistance or candlestick patterns for better entry/exit timing.

Notes

  • False Signals: Lowering the “Min # of Stochastics” setting increases alerts but also false positives. Test thoroughly.
  • Volatility: Signals may lag in choppy markets; use higher timeframes for clarity.
  • Backtesting: Always backtest on your chosen asset (e.g., BTCUSD, EURUSD) before live trading.
  • Chart Clutter: Adjust line visibility or Convergence Band opacity to keep your chart clean.
